SME Development
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) account for a large share of economic activities in any country and ensuring the competitiveness of SMEs results in increased employment and reduction in poverty. Besides, with over 50% of ASEAN’s GDP contribution coming from SMEs, they have become the cornerstone for equitable growth. Our interventions for SME development include promoting competitiveness through benchmarking SME practices with global and industry standards; expanding market linkages for business development; promoting value chain approach for efficient operations; establishing cluster programmes to leverage the strength of scale and achievement of economic viability; and empowering the business ecosystem for innovation and growth through capacity building of allied stakeholders including service providers, BMOs and regional agencies.
