Private Sector Development

Private sector development is critical to ensuring a sustainable economy – one that achieves economic opportunities and holistic growth for all. This means improving the sustainability performance of the private sector along their value chain and across industries through better resource efficiency and sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices. It also includes better performances by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). At ASSIST, we take pride in our experience in helping the private sector including MSMEs adopt practices that contribute to a green economy, helping them become competitive while reducing natural resource usage. We also explore innovative ways of solving old problems by assisting social enterprises in Asia.

We have made a difference among businesses in the metal finishing, retail, hospitality, tourism, automotive, food processing, garment and footwear sectors in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Philippines, Indonesia and the Mekong region; helping them take performance leaps and rationalize their approaches towards SCP. This includes working on existing buildings and infrastructure to promote climate-friendly technology. Above all, we work with national agencies on policies for a green economy and promote green practices in the areas of air quality, procurement, and resource efficiency. Community and industry-level impact are achieved through communication and advocacy using various channels with different agencies.

Our extensive network and expertise in this sphere guarantee the delivery of a range of solutions with positive impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
