ASSIST Strengthens Network in Germany and South Africa

ASSIST Mekong Region Director, Aru David, and ASSIST Partners & Network Manager, Matthias Wichmann, explored partnership opportunities in Germany on February 5-7, 2013, after which Matthias proceeded with a business trip to South Africa.

 

During the trip to Germany, ASSIST met Engagement Global and UNESCO-UNEVOC for the introductory meetings. The Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, Shjamal Majumdar, emphasized their interest in ASSIST’s TVET expertise. Aru and Matthias also paid a visit to the offices of ASSIST’s long-term donor partners SEQUA, GIZ and DEG.

 

In South Africa, Matthias caught up with Nana Kelly, Project Manager at the local office of DEG, to discuss the ongoing cooperatin between the two organizations. He then met with representatives of BBraun and Boehringer-Ingelheim to explore partnership opportunities for the future Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, as well as Fresenius which ASSIST has already applied for a PPP with and received a postitive feedback. Matthias‘ business trip closed with signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the South African German Chamber of Commerce, represented by Ann-Mareike Otte.
