Sustainable agriculture remains key to inclusive and green growth. Given the economic dependence of the developing world’s population on this sector, it becomes crucial for development actors to tackle relevant issues faced by farmers and rural businesses and provide appropriate solutions. Placing value in whole-of-society approach, ASSIST has forged partnerships with public and private sector players in rolling-out various interventions.
ASSIST through its expert network and strong community partners has helped highland vegetable farmers improve farm productivity through climate smart practices in the Philippines; introduced smart mechanization among medium-hold farmers in South Asia; brought in innovative and renewable technologies for effective crop input management; created post-harvest value addition through low-cost and sustainable technologies in Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Indonesia; improved market linkages and promoted value-chain approaches among agri-based enterprises; and built capacities of extension agencies to continuously support the farming communities.
