ASSIST kicks-off Fairtrade Philippines

Fairtrade Philippines was launched at the Montebello Hotel in Cebu on October 2 followed by the Visayas Workshops on October 7 in Bacolod and October 8 in Cebu.

 

Project Fairtrade Philippines is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) through a joint effort of DEG, Fairtrade International and FLO-CERT and is co-implemeted by OURFood, SIGNAsia and ASSIST.

 

During the launch, ASSIST was represented by Kama Neson Ganeson, Arnel Go, Pauline Cortes and Miriam Gabon. The event brought together representatives from the agri-food sector, local associations, media and government.

 

The Visayas workshops were organized with the objective to provide basic information on the structure of Fairtrade International, the Fairtrade standard for small producer and the certification process and lastly, the overview about the Philippine Fairtrade Marketing Organization (FMO) project. The workshop in Bacolod was entitled ‘Civil Society Forum and Workshop for Negros Occidental and Oriental’while the one in Cebu was entitled ‘Workshop with Farmer’s Federation of Dalaguete’.
