Digibayanihan seals partnership with the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu

CEBU City, CEBU – Digibayanihan seals partnership with the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) through a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 10, 2018.

 

Rev. Fr. Cristopher C. Maspara, president of USJ-R, welcomed the DigiBayanihan team, including Social Actions Program Manager Ms. Clarisa Munoz. Fr. Leo G. Alaras, Vice President for Academics and Dr. Mary Ann G. Roble Mary Ann G. Roble, Recoletos Industrial and Technological Training Center (RITTC) Director were present as witnesses to the signing of MOU.

 

Through the partnership, the DigiBayanihan Program will be integrated into the school’s curriculum especially within the RITTC, the technical vocational center of the university. Aside from this, Digibayanihan team and USJ-R will hold training sessions and development workshops relevant to the mission of empowering Filipinos on digital literacy, digitally-enabled literacy, and responsible digital citizenship.

 

Harveen Ang, Program Associate, also facilitated a Training of Teachers (TOT) at the Learning Resource Center of the University of San Carlos (USC) on July 11, 2018. The TOT focused on the work of Digibayanihan and how it can contribute to the education of Filipino. The training was participated by 30 teachers from the Senior High School Department of USC.

 

Ms. Nimfa Alo, ASSIST Partnership Consultant, and Antonio Batomalaqui, Director for Basic Education of USC, were also present in the training. The participants showed interest in the program. One participant said, “I suggest an organized workshop to incorporate Test Hero and Career Engine (initiatives of Digibayanihan) in our classroom practices.” Another participant mentioned “Everything was great. I got to learn a lot, especially on email and presentation tools.”

 

“We hope to come back soon to hold a workshop on how to implement DigiBayanihan in their curriculums. We want to do more than just leaving the people to their own devices,” says Harveen. “Overall, our time here in Cebu was rewarding, particularly because I saw the increasing interest in digital literacy. We will continue to spread DigiBayanihan throughout Cebu.”
