Local Trainers in India Empowered by Project SWEEP

May 22, 2013

Two Training-of-Trainer (ToT) sessions were held in Mumbai and Chennai in February and March 2013 within the framework of the DEG-supported Public Private Partnership project SWEEP (Southwest Energy Efficiency Project). The event was attended by Mr. Sathappan and Mr. Balamurugan of ASSIST.

The training aimed to provide knowledge to local trainers on the clauses of ISO 50001, also known as Energy Management System, as well as help them interpret and understand the standards. Participants of the training came together from various industries, including automotive, cement, energy, steel and garments. Out of all the companies, six shall be selected to benefit from the Technical Assistance and get the opportunity to fully implement ISO 50001 with the help of local subject matter experts.

Implemented jointly by TUV India and ASSIST, SWEEP is currently undergoing the 2nd phase, whereas various capacity building activities are being planned to further enhance sustainable energy management and reduction of greenhouse gas emission among energy-intensive enterprises in India.
