ASSIST officially launches SOURCe in Nepal

On 24th February 2016, ASSIST, in association with SIDEC-Nepal, launched a new project called SOURCe at Thapathalli, Kathmandu, Nepal. The aim of SOURCe is to supply unpolluted clean drinking water to rural communities in Nepal.

 

Speakers for the launch include the Hon’ble Prem Bahadur Singh, Minister for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Ganesh Shah, Former Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Sunil Kumar Das, Deputy Director General of the Dept. of Drinking Water and Sewerage System, and Mr. Saurabh Chhabra, Business Development head for Vestergaard. The audience was comprised of local leaders, social mobilizers, installation technicians and engineers from drinking water and sanitation departments from three districts namely Kavre, Makwanpur and Sindhupalchowk.

 

The project managers from ASSIST (Ms. Eddolin and Mr. Karunakaran), together with the team from Vestergaard (Mr. Saurabh, Mr. Ravi, Mr. Subodh, Mr. Bishowram, and Mr. Sushant), worked tirelessly to implement the project, despite the 8-month delay caused by the severe natural calamity that hit Nepal.

 

The installation of the filters is to commence shortly and the projected target is 5000 family filters and 100 community filters around the three districts of Kavre, Makwanpur, and Sindhupalchowk.
