PUNE, India – ASSIST and SAME DUETZ-FAHR (SDF) India launched on March 23 the 18-month SMART Technology for GREEN Agricultural Practices (SMART 4 GREEN) Program. It aims to inform sugarcane farmers on more sustainable cultivation methods and to create a strong network of dealers who will support the farmers making proper use of technologies.
The program funder SDF is an Italy-based company that is a leading producer of farming technologies, such as tractors and harvesting machines.
As part of the program, ASSIST and SDF will hold awareness sessions and will implement in pilot farms. These pilot areas will be studied in terms of production output, capacity-building needs, etc., to serve as reference for other farms where the project may be replicated. Farmer help centers will also be established.
