March 30, 2015

A four-day seminar on ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System was held last March 23-26 at the ASSIST Mekong Office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia as part of SAFE Rice Cambodia Project.

SAFE Rice Cambodia is a project funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and implemented by ASSIST. The project aims to enhance the awareness and capacity of mill enterprises, as well as service providers such as universities, consulting firms, etc., to implement food safety management systems.

The seminar educated a total of 28 participants from Kampong Cham National School of Agriculture and Royal University of Agriculture, including sugar mills/companies.

The training, conducted by Ms. Lourdes Mangaban of ASSIST, equipped participants on how to prepare ISO 22000 documents, conduct audits, and handle and deliver food safety courses. Aside from learning through classroom lectures, the participants also experienced to conduct onsite audit at a rice mill.
