Dressing Up a Beautiful Future for Vietnamese Women

The Beauty for a Better Life (BFBL) project was launched by the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) in partnership with L’Oréal Vietnam last July 2019 to address the gender equality problems in the workforce of Vietnam. Two years later, the project continues to empower Vietnamese women through skills training on beauty services and entrepreneurship.

Last May 11, a total of 18 beneficiaries from Batch 3 of the BFBL project in Sin Ho, Lai Chau Province, Vietnam officially graduated, bringing new knowledge on hairdressing and makeup training. Lai Chau is considered the poorest province in the country, with Sin Ho being hardly visited by travelers. Despite these challenges, the setup of hair training centers enabled opportunities for underprivileged women to improve their lives.

The graduation ceremony was attended by limited guests including L’Oréal trainers and representatives from the local women union, who expressed their appreciation for the BFBL project. Moving forward, the project team is planning to recruit another batch of 20 beneficiaries at Sin Ho, Lai Chau.
