The Need

Agriculture remains a cornerstone of the Philippine economy, yet productivity across the sector continues to lag behind its potential. Farmers struggle with outdated practices and limited access to modern agricultural technologies, resulting in poor soil and water management that drives yields down season after season. Without urgent investment in upgrading farmers’ knowledge, skills, and tools, communities that depend on agriculture risk falling further behind — cut off from the growth and food security the sector could otherwise provide.

The Intervention

To address these challenges, Project YABONG integrates farmer capacity development, technology adoption, and community-based learning. It strengthens farmers’ knowledge and skills in soil and water management, equips cooperatives and local officials with modern agricultural tools, and fosters collaboration among students, communities, and government — building a more productive and resilient agricultural sector.
