WeCare project holds Launching Ceremony and Stakeholder Forum in Myanmar

January 29, 2015

Following the success of the WeCare Vietnam Project Launch and Stakeholder Discussion in June last year, Bayer and ASSIST Mekong organized another Launching Ceremony and Stakeholder Forum on December 11, 2014 at Hotel Yangon in Myanmar.

WeCare is a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) project co-financed by DEG and Bayer MaterialScience. It is implemented by the latter in partnership with ASSIST. The project aims to provide innovative energy-efficient technologies to support farmers and fishermen in agriculture and aquaculture productivities, as well as to establish integrated socio-economic models (SEMs) that will build capacity, create sustainable growth, and ultimately help eliminate the threat of hunger and poverty by providing communities in Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar with knowledge on how to improve productivity, product quality and food security.

Not only did the event introduce the project methodologies and activities to its beneficiaries, but it also provided an avenue for the different invited stakeholder groups to contribute ideas on project implementation and application of solar drying and cold storage technologies.
