ASSIST launches Sustainable Forest project in Vietnam

Sustainable Forest, a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) project funded by DEG, was launched last November 21 in Binh Phuoc Province, Vietnam.

 

The event gathered 42 provincial delegates including Ranger Officers who were introduced to the project objectives and activities. Present at the event were Mr. Trinh Anh Dung (General Director, Bureau Veritas Vietnam), Mr. Nguyen Van Loi (Vice President, Binh Phuoc Province), Mr. Aru David (Regional Director, ASSIST Mekong), Ms. Vo Thuy Huong (Bureau Veritas), Ms. Pham Thi Le Trang (Bureau Veritas), and Ms. Nguyen Thanh Tu (ASSIST Mekong).

 

The project aims at promoting sustainable forest management and minimizing further socio-economic and environmental impact through demonstration of forest management concepts, principles and forestry techniques. Aside from these, it also seeks to raise awareness on sustainable forest management certification schemes and to test its applicability in Cambodia and Vietnam.
