The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and UNICEF joined forces in organizing a conference regarding CSR and its involvement on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission). This whole day event which took place at Hotel Taj Coromandel in Chennai last May 12, was set up in order to serve as grounds for brainstorming by field experts as well as investors in the zone of water and sanitation.
Throughout the day, talks were delivered by the most prominent personalities on the matter. Aside from the welcoming remarks, the opening session also delivered the problems and issues faced by sanitation and hygiene in Tamil Nadu. The first session highlighted the importance of CSR and its implications to businesses. The second and the last session focused on technological and innovative solutions emphasized by the former, and CSR solutions stressed by the latter.
Not only were the participants able to gain understanding on CSR and its contribution to the Swachh Bharat Mission and in what ways can they get involved either directly or indirectly; but they were also given the privilege to network among themselves that can be of benefit for their future partnerships.
In attendance at the event were ASSIST’s Marian Thomassen and Thompson Srinivas. This is particularly of interest to them as ASSIST Chennai Team has launched the Ten Photos to Shake the World India Competition with the theme, “Clean and Green India”.
