ADB, Youth4Asia call: youth-led health, sanitation projects

February 12, 2015

The ADB-NGO and Civil Society Center’s Youth Initiative – in collaboration with ASSIST – is launching the call for ‘Health and Hygiene’ as part of the Youth4Asia Solutions Search. All youth-led organisations, youth-focused or youth-implemented projects on health and sanitation across Asia are invited to apply for a US$8,000 worth of award that includes ADB publications, mentoring and support, and assistance for scaling up their initiatives.

Applications close on two rounds of deadlines, 15 February and 28 February. Three winners will be awarded each at the World Water Forum in South Korea on 12-17 April.

Only entries that have been implemented or ongoing are eligible for the Awards; and projects should either be run by a youth-led organisation, cater to the needs of the youth, or implemented involving youth groups.

Winners will also receive linkages to networks that can provide potential investments for scaling up. Their initiatives will also be promoted in platforms such as Youth4Asia website, ADB publications, ADB Youth Initiative blog, and through the networks of ASSIST and AsianNGO.

The ‘Health and Hygiene’ call is part of a wider Youth4Asia campaign that invites youth initiatives on the sectors of environment, citizenship and good governance, education and employment, and health and sanitation. Other themes will also be launched in the second quarter of the year.

The ADB-NGOC, through its Youth Initiative programme, engages youth in ADB operations to promote inclusion of the [youth] in important development and policy discussions and helps in capacity building of young people.

An online knowledge platform, the Youth4Asia call consolidates youth-led projects and youth organisations that work on the areas of focus while competition on each focus area will be implemented. It combines a competition and creation of an online platform to showcase and promote youth work in the Asia-Pacific.
