The Need
Behind much of the Philippines’ agricultural output is a workforce that rarely gets named: women. Smallholder women farmers carry a double burden — tending to crops and fields while managing the demands of family and household life. Despite their central role in agriculture, they receive the least support, the fewest resources, and the least recognition. Without targeted investment in women farmers’ knowledge, skills, and well-being, the backbone of Philippine agriculture will continue to go unseen and underserved.
The Intervention
Bayer Kubo integrates farmer capacity development, women’s health education, and multi-stakeholder partnership. It establishes the Bayer Kubo Center of Excellence as a dedicated hub for knowledge sharing — equipping smallholder women farmers with practical skills in family planning, farmer self-care, and sustainable agriculture through toolkits, guidebooks, and hands-on training sessions, certifies Community Champions to carry the program forward beyond project implementation, and fosters partnerships across government, academe, civil society, and the private sector — ensuring that what is built for women farmers today is owned and sustained by their communities long after.
