Auto Sustain holds EHS and GRI Workshops in India

ASSIST held the 2nd Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Technical Training Workshop in Bangalore, on March 25-27 followed by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Training Workshops, one in Chennai on May 8-10 and one in Bangalore on May 29-31, 2013.

 

Auto Sustain is a Public-Private Partnership Project co-financed by DEG and implemented by UL DQS India and ASSIST in association with IGCC which aims to sensitize the automotive industry on sustainable and socially responsible practices.

 

The 3-day EHS Technical Training Workshop aimed to enlighten the participants on the following, Identification of Hazards and Aspects, Identification of Legal, Statutory and Regulatory Requirements, EHS awareness and audits, as well as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 implementation process. An exam was conducted on the final day of the training to evaluate the participants and certificates were distributed. As a next step, trainings on Global Reporting Initiative will be conducted in Chennai and Bangalore, India.

 

The first training was conducted to help the enterprises gain understanding on basic of Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Reporting and the GRI Framework. GRI guidelines are meant for companies to publish their sustainability reports to show case the impact of their services, products and operations on the society and the environment.

 

As for the second training, thirteen participants from various enterprises like Continental, Avasarala Technologies, High Temp. Furnaces, 4D Consulting, Titan, Exedy Clutch and a lot more joined the 3-day workshop. At the end of the session, an examination was held to evaluate the participants on their understanding of the GRI concept, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Sustainability Reporting. Two companies will be selected for technical assistance for publishing their sustainability reports.
