ASSIST started the year with a very humble yet successful 3rd TPSW Philippines Awarding Day held at the Yardstick Coffee in Makati on January 16, 2014.
Ten Photos to Shake the World (TPSW) is ASSIST’s pioneer Social Initiative which was launched in the Philippines last 2011. It is an annual photo competition developed to stir people’s awareness about the state of the environment, sustainable lifestyle and inclusive growth, and to encourage involvement in social action through photography. The previous competitions (2011 and 2012) received 600 photo submissions and obtained support from various sponsors and partners in the private and non-profit sectors.
This year’s competition, themed “A Showcase of Empowerment, Partnership, and Innovations for Sustainable and Inclusive Development.”, gathered a total of 247 entries submitted from all over the Philippines. The very generous and supportive partners and sponsors for this year consist of Asian Development Bank, Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, Nestle Philippines, Asian Institute of Management, Globe, Nordic Business Council Philippines, ACCESS Health Philippines, Bahay Kubo Organics, Pinoy Photography, National Confederation of Cooperatives, Yardstick Coffee and ABS-CBN News Channel.
The program was hosted by Nizelle Sy, Social Actions Associate and Welcoming Remarks was given by Olga Babina, Social Actions Manager. It was followed by an opening message to the winners, guests and partners by Sreenivas Narayanan, Group Managing Director. The awarding of the Top 10 winners and the People’s Choice Award followed next. Lastly, the awarding of the Globe Mobile Technology for Sustainable Development Award was presented by Globe representatives, Yolanda Crisanto, Head for Corporate Communication, together with Fernando Esguerra and Skye Male.
Other partners and guests present were Harold Grande of AIM, Chris Morris of ADB, Lia Francisco of RCMD, Mary Rose Rontal of ACCESS PH, Ryan Aguas of BKOrganics, and the AsianNGO team, Mike Saycon, Robert Ferguson, and Joylene Dumarey and many more.
The 3rd round of Ten Photos to Shake the World Philippines would not have been a success if it weren’t for the overflowing support of all the people involved, the project team, partners, sponsors, and the participants.
