PROmoting Food Industry Competitiveness Training Program (PRO-FIT) PPP project held its Diploma in Food Safety Management (DFSM) Opening Ceremony at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City on April 16, 2013.
Ma. Luisa Solarte-Lee, Chairperson of Training and Entrepreneurship Education Development (TEEDD) presented the participants. Representatives from different sectors like food & beverage, government offices, and consultancy representatives attended the event. Welcome remarks were given by Professor Nestor O. Raneses, Director of University of the Philippines Institute for Small Scale Industries (UP ISSI), Alexander T. Go, Marketing Officer of TÜV Rheinland Philippines, Inc. and Matthias Wichmann, ASSIST Network and Services Manager. The welcome remark was followed by the briefing about PRO-FIT by Jocelle P. Mamaril, Account Manager.
PRO-FIT is a Public-Private Partnership project funded by Sequa and co-implemented by TÜV Rheinland and ASSIST in partnership with UP-ISSI and AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation, which aims to introduce a variety of qualification courses on food safety regulations and standards in order to enhance the capacity of the local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the food and beverage industry and make them competitive in the local and foreign markets.
PRO-FIT DFSM was scheduled to be conducted every Tuesday and Thursday of the week started on April 16, 2013 until July 11, 2013 for a total of 26 days.
