March 19, 2018

HO CHI MINH, Vietnam – The ASSIST office in this country joined arms with key stakeholders in various sectors to be part of “Better Work (BW) Vietnam”, a global partnership aiming to improve working conditions, to promote respect of labor rights for workers, and to boost the competitiveness of apparel businesses.

Led by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), BW unites the expertise of the ILO in labor standards with that of IFC in private sector development. It also shares partnership with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of the South Korean government.

The program provides advisories to factories, works with governments to address related issues and improve labor laws, ensures that progress is sustained, teaches unions to have a greater say in their workplace, and works with donors to help achieve their broader development goals.

In its pilot project called “Advisory Services for Environmental Compliance,” BW provides advisory services to support environmental compliance in BW factories.
