Job Background

The Research and Acquisitions Associate is a proactive, target-driven, and self-motivated go-getter with a passion for development work and relevant experience in proposal and grant writing. The role will work as a part of ASSIST’s Research and Acquisitions team to support ASSIST’s efforts in expanding its impact and capacity as a nonprofit organization through research and proposal development. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Proposal Writer functions

  • Writes competitive grant proposals or bids ensuring coherence, clarity, timely delivery, and persuasive communication of ASSIST’s relevance to the project
  • Develops and manages work schedules for a proposal or bid, coordinating work between different team members located in different offices, and partner experts and organizations in the development of a submission
  • Liaises and coordinates with colleagues in the Philippines and regional offices on matters pertaining project acquisition efforts
  • Cleans and maintains databases, as necessary

Researcher functions

  • Seeks out funding opportunities, partners, and events
  • Performs research on new source sites
  • Cleans and maintains databases, as necessary
  • Does other research assignments as needed

Secondary & Cross-Cutting Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-BU partners and other stakeholders to provide tools, resources and other materials that support all resource development efforts. 
  • Attend and represent the organization at online and offline meetings, events, and conferences to grow the brand recognition and awareness of ASSIST
  • Maintain current and thorough understanding of ASSIST’S impact goals and strategic direction, focus areas, successes and overall results to effectively communicate to partners and/or during ASSIST events, meetings.

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in development studies, political science, international relations, economics, journalism, communications, management, or related courses
  • At least one year of experience in writing bids and grant proposals in the development sector
  • Experience in project management with bilateral and multilateral organizations in the following focus areas: sustainable consumption and production, green economy, SME development, social enterprise, renewable energy, water, waste, climate change, DRRM, agri-business and value chain development, agri-productivity, agri- institutional development, rural entrepreneurship, vocational education, and labor market development, public health, and social protection
  • Familiarity with how development agencies and institutions work, including ADB, GIZ, IFC, World Bank, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Creative and innovative, an out-of-the-box thinker
  • Highly professional attitude, and is able to work in fast-paced environments and produce quality output within urgent deadlines
