The Need
Tucked within the heart of Metro Manila lies one of its last remaining coastal sanctuaries — the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park. Yet this protected habitat is under growing pressure. Plastic pollution, improper waste disposal, and environmental neglect are quietly eroding an ecosystem that thousands of families and countless species depend on. Without urgent intervention, what remains of this vital wetland risks being lost to the weight of the city around it.
The Intervention
The Coastal Cleanup integrates environmental education, community mobilization, and direct habitat restoration. It equips Sun Life Global Solutions employees and environmental advocates with knowledge on biodiversity and responsible waste management before they take action, engages volunteer teams in systematic coastline clearing and waste segregation, and fosters a culture of environmental stewardship — building a more informed and responsive community committed to protecting the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park.
