A study on practice of outsourcing by Indian automobile companies revealed that majority of pollution during automobile production, takes place at the supplier and vendor's site, most of them being small and medium enterprises (SME). There is a clear trend of transferring of pollution by automobile companies to its supply chain. Companies need to adopt a responsible procurement policy and green supply chain management practices.
