Systematic & Holistic program for a balanced INdustrial Ecology Southeast Asia
Kamataka’s rapid & unsustainable economic growth is posing a serious challenge to the ecological balance of the region and environment in general. 51 % of the high polluting industries are located in 4 districts of Bangalore urban, Belgaum, Bellary and Mysore. They also account for huge concentration of small and medium sized industries. These SMEs are losing their competitive edge and are ill-equipped to meet increasingly stringent national / international rules & regulations, as a result are in danger of being thrown out of business.
Comprehensive Program for Enhanced Productivity & Sustainable Industrial Ecology (CP-EPSIE), a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) program jointly funded by DEG of Germany and TUV Rheinland, India, aims to bring about the much need shift towards a more sustainable means of development by reducing environmental degradation, improving social accountability & occupational health & safety standards and resource efficiency, with an ultimate goal of helping SMEs become competitive and gain better international acceptance.
