Eligibility
1. The contest is open to all Philippine citizens who are at least 18 years old as of November 14, 2016.
2. Professional and non-professional artists are eligible to join the competition.
3. Professionalism must be proved by a letter of endorsement from your workplace. If you are a freelancer prove your professionalism by sending us a link to your website or similar.
- Professional Category: for those whose primary source of income comes from their artworks
- Non-professional Category: for those who do caricature/ cartoon drawing as a hobby and do not make money through doing so
4. Participation in the competition is
FREE.
5. Employees of ASSIST, their affiliates, as well as their respective relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity and affinity are not eligible to participate in the competition.
THEMES:
1. The artwork must capture the following themes:
- Women's Health: A starting point to sustainable empowerment
- Career Women: Equal opportunities in the job market
- Violence against women: Countering gender-related violence
FORMAT & GUIDELINES
Cartoons and Caricatures are defined as follows:
"Caricature and cartoon, in graphic art, comically distorted drawing or likeness, done with the purpose of satirizing or ridiculing its subject." (https://www.britannica.com/art/caricature-and-cartoon, 10/25/2016).
- Entries must be original; they should not be submitted to any other competition owned by other entity, and they should not be subject to any copyright issues.
- Entries should NOT refer to any person, group, or organization without their consent. By submitting entries, participants guarantee that all necessary permissions were acquired.
- Entries should NOT bear watermarks, signatures, frames or other markings, e.g. date/time stamps, etc.
- To be submitted are the following:
- Completed Entry Form
- Photograph of the artwork
- For professionals, letter of endorsement from your workplace or similar & for freelancer, a link to your website or similar.
- Materials to be used will be the following: A4 paper and/or A3 paper, paintbrush, pencil, marker, watercolor, paint and other art materials.
- Each participant may submit up to three (3) entries. These entries must be submitted in digital format (either photograph or scan the artwork preferably jpeg/jpg format) on or before midnight of January 29, 2017, Sunday.
- Important instructions on photograph of artwork:
- When photographing artwork, please include 2 inches of frame/border beside the artwork.
- Only take photograph of final artwork. Do not physically alter or revise artwork after photographing and submitting electronically. Any discrepancy or, difference between the photograph and the actual artwork will disqualify the entry.
- Usage of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other art programs is NOT allowed UNLESS for necessary corrections due to the digitalization process. Participants must aim to faithfully reproduce the original artwork when captured in digital format.
- Each entry must be not smaller than three (3) Mb and not larger than ten (10) Mb.
- Entries must be submitted along with the completed registration form, which can be downloaded on this page. Each entry should have an English title and a two (2) to five (5) sentence description in English of what is in the artwork and how it is relevant to the contest theme. The registration form is in PDF format and can be filled out electronically or manually (print & scan) and emailed to [email protected].
- Submitted entries should follow the file name format as specified below:

Example: Maria Magdalena submitting three (3) entries should name them as follows:

- Please note that failure to follow any and all of the preceding instructions will result in disqualification of your entries!
- ASSIST does not bear any liability over delayed, corrupted or lost entries.
Selection of Winning Entries
1. Two (2) winners – one (1) for each category – will be selected by an independent panel of judges according to the criteria below.
a. Relevance to the theme

An additional winner in each category will be selected by people's choice via voting on Facebook.
2. The prize for the one (1) winner in the professional category shall be the money prize in the net amount of 20,000 Php. The prize for the one (1) winner in the non-professional category shall be the money prize in the net amount of 10,000 Php.
3. The two (2) winners selected by people’s choice are not entitled to prize money but will receive non-cash prizes.
4. The organizers reserve the right to introduce special awards and prizes, or recognize artworks not included into the top entries.
5. Entries will be promoted in platforms such as the C3 Cartoon Competition’s websites and the networks of ASSIST and AsianNGO.
Claiming Prizes
1. Winners will receive an e-mail and a call (through the address and phone number indicated by the participant on the registration form) within a maximum period of one (1) month after the end of the contest. They will be informed of the next steps.
2. The prize money can either be transferred to the bank account specified by the winners, or be picked up personally in the organizer‘s office. Prizes can only be claimed until March 17, 2017. Failure to do so will be considered a forfeiture of the prize.
3. In claiming the prize money, winners have to submit the following for verification, either by e-mail or in person:
- A valid government-issued ID containing the full name and the photo of the winner; and,
- A copy of the e-mail announcement of the winners.

Terms and Conditions
ASSIST has sole and absolute discretion to determine which submission entries, if any, merit an award. ASSIST reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, extend or reduce the terms and conditions of, or to suspend or terminate, the competition without prior notice. ASSIST will endeavor to inform participants of any such change, modification, extension, reduction, suspension or termination, as the case may be, through any media outlet deemed appropriate by ASSIST in its sole and absolute discretion.
ASSIST further reserves the right to nullify and/or cancel any part or all of the competition if it appears that any fraud or malfunctions have occurred in any form whatsoever. Each participant undertakes to indemnify and keep ASSIST harmless from and against any loss, damage, claims, costs and expenses which may be incurred by or asserted against ASSIST as a result of such participant's participation in the competition.
ENTRANTS RETAIN OWNERSHIP AND ALL OTHER RIGHTS TO FUTURE USE OF THEIR ARTWORKS. At the same time, participation in the competition and submission of artwork grants ASSIST a royalty-free and unlimited in time right to use all winning and non-winning artworks and your name in ASSIST’s print and digital collaterals, merchandise, exhibitions, events, and other public venues.
